Is it possible for feet to be two different sizes?

i am usually barefoot, just socks, or open-toed shoes. I haven't bought sneakers in a while, and don't wear them often. but when I do, my left foot always feels trapped. I know it's normal for one side to be bigger than the other, but this much bigger? today I put my sneakers on and my left foot actually hurts, like it's being strangled. my toes are curled up to fit in there. I'm limping. could my left foot be a half-size bigger than my right foot?

Yes it is possible. If you want to get technical, your average person has one leg that is longer than the other and one arm that is slightly longer than the other. Not noticeable with the naked eye, but if the person actually pays attention they will realize that one leg, arm and even foot is bigger than the other. Even if it's ever so slightly.

Absolutely. My left foot is a little bit bigger than the right. And I can feel it when wearing certain shoes. It's similar to how some women have one breast bigger than the other. It's no big deal. Barely noticeable. But buying and wearing certain shoes can be uncomfortable. Once you get used to it you won't even notice it.

Yeah, the left foot for a lot of people is sometimes slightly bigger. Your left foot is definitely bigger than your right foot. No problem there - you don't need to have special shoes or anything. When you buy shoes, just get a left shoe in a larger size.

so I should buy two pairs of shoes just to adjust for the size difference? that sounds expensive, and I'm broke :(

No I meant you'll get one pair of shoes, but before you buy them just take the left shoe and switch it with the same left shoe that fits your foot. Stuff them into the box and head to the checkout.

um...that sounds shady. and deceptive to the person who gets the shoebox I left behind.

How is it shady? You're not stealing it. I'm not sure how you would get shoes otherwise without buying two pairs. And yeah I get that it could suck for the person who wants the other pair, but stores usually have several pairs of each size. I've come across this myself, where shoes have been two different sizes, so I just grab another pair.

Or if there's only a half size difference between your feet, just buy the bigger size. Do the right foot up a little tighter so it doesn't flop around.

i can't make the right shoe tighter. I have narrow feet so they are already tied tight just to keep them from falling off.

Maybe you could go to a store and have a salesperson size your feet so your get an accurate size, and then they could recommend some shoes. There might be inserts you can get for the right foot as well, so it fits properly. But you'll have to check at a shoe store.

Actually we all have a side of us that is bigger. One foot is usually bigger or wider and one arm is usually longer as well. Mine is my left side.

yeah my left is usually bigger than my right in things...but I've never had this much of a problem before. not even with bras.
