In theory it could, but, only if the bone was broken, and damaged badly.
They also say weight lifting improves bone density, not really sure whether or not that would actually make you taller, or appear to be taller.
As far as I know there is no evidence to back up this myth, and it seems kind of ridiculous.
I used to weight lift in the 5th grade, no, I'm not talking hardcore 30- hour workouts and whey protein shakes, I did it because my dad was always doing it, so I wanted to do it too.
Iv'e been working out quite a bit these passed 3 years, I am 5'10, I was 5'10 at around 15-16 started weight lifting around 18, as far as I can notice I have not grown since 16.
Of course though people hit growth spurts at different ages, some before others, some after, some people stop growing younger.
My mother always told me a story about a friend of my parent's named Jack. My mother told me that Jack was 6'0 at age 18.and he grew to be 6'5 at 20 or something after he married his wife.
Now I can't remember exactly how the story went, but I'm not sure I believe it, since males usually stop growing at around 18 or so I believe right QA? I'm not sure.

I think it's a myth. I'm 17 and 5'9 and I started lifting seriously like 3 months ago. I bench, squat, deadlift, overhead press, and a couple more exercises. Since I started, I've actually felt a tiny bit taller. And I do take whey protein shakes. After deadlifting, I feel my posture improves and I feel great. I love lifting so far, it boosts my confidence. I think if anything, lifting weights makes you grow because you increase bone density and you get higher testosterone levels and possibly human growth hormone. Just don't squat heavy if you're under 15, I think in that case you would stunt your growth.
I am a personal trainer and that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Working out does a lot of good for you. It helps keep your weight in check and helps you feel better about yourself. it also prevents you from having health problems later on in life. I could write a book about why its important to workout and I don't thing anything would be included about why not to workout unless you have a major health condition that could prevent you from working out.

No, it has very little to do with your natural height hormones.
