Is the high life a bad life? What is it that makes stoners hated upon?

I'm a stoner, but I want everyone else's point of view on those that would rather chill and relax rather than drink n cause disaster?

Okay I saw a similar question the other day but they were a part timer I'm an all the timer I don't faze those against it, all though I am not an addict I do work for a very good and well known company and my aim is a welder!

Anyway what is the honest opinion I know most are haters but why? What is harming others? Why is this particular drug looked down upon?

It's a different culture. I don't like people that party too hard with drinking either, but I can relate more to those who drink vs those who smoke.

Those who drink (in moderation like me) tend to do it only on the weekends or an occasional happy hour. They don't intend to drink before getting in the car (except to stupidly drive home from a party), or before they go to work. They can be any type of person, including intelligent, motivated, and successful people. You don't equate "lazy" with moderate alcohol drinkers as much.

Those who smoke, and this is purely based on people I know or people I've dated (which include my brother and ex boyfriends), tend to do it all the time. Usually every day. They'll do it before work, before they get in the car, and before they do anything. It's a state of being high any time so you can never count on their sobriety. They're a lot more likely to spend days on their computer or in front of the TV so getting the "lazy" name. They seem more complacent, less motivated. Plus it's a lot of hiding and secrecy since, ya know, it's illegal here. They have to have a dealer.

I personally don't have a lot in common with that culture. So it's not that I'm hating on them. After dating two diff guys with a smoking habit, I've realized how little I like it and how I hate being around it. To each their own, I just have no interest in spending a lot of time with people who do that. Not to mention, I've got potential license to lose now.

Yeah suppose not everyone digs the way we live our day to day life coping with it I suppose not many people do, I hate drinking most stoners hate the stuff. But again there's two types of people the high life and the party life mmmm n those that are boring n don't do either so three types lol. But yeah guys are not quiet wired right when it comes to being lazy they manage to play that role perfectly

I think she means most stoners hate drinking. I agree with that, most stoners I know would prefer to smoke than drink. However, stoners prefer to be high all day long, whereas drinkers get buzzed for a few hours on a Friday . I'd say stoners have a much harder time coping with real life because they always want to be high. It's the smoking version of an alcoholic. I rarely meet smokers who smoke as moderately as a drinker. They're either a non smoker or an all-the-time smoker.

I smoke a pipe we don't do it as often I sometimes do it maybe if I am lucky twice a day or every other day since our smokes last a good 20 minutes to over an hour. Also we can't get high from our tobacco since it was not made for that purpose.

My cousin is 16 years old and high at twice a weak. He steals money from us to pay for it, skips classes, destroyed his GPA, his dumbass friends have somehow convinced him to deal weed... so yes. I think it is a bad life. What is so stressful about your life (or the life of any unsick stoner) that you can't work it out without substance or drug abuse? Are you really that bad at coping with everyday problems? I don't mean to sound antagonistic, I'm just so worried about my cousin and I hate that he's high all the time and doesn't care about what it's doing to him or his family.

We seek it as an anti depressive I mean I'm the kind of person that has been through everything. And it seems to whack a smile on my face instead of thinking through it we forget our past and spare the moment become emotionless as a shield to protect our hearts we once had on our sleeves. People get stoned for countless of reasons and this could be one.

I just can't appreciate people whose mind can be taken over by a drug (also alcohol for that matter) or by the craving due to the lack of it. They scare me even more since I've seen one overdosing with fatal consequences. The substance they're addicted to takes control over their life. If they can let themselves become addicted to a 'soft' drug, they're just as likely capable of letting themselves become addicted to hard drugs.

It's not a hate thus, it's a deep uneasiness about not knowing how their personality and actions may change in a short future. About them being unpredictable.

That guy did weed from his 17 or so, switched to heavier stuff after 2 years, then to even heavier, ended up as a jobless and stealing wreck, abusing any drug he could get his dumb hands on.
Just like other potheads he always said "It's innocent, I can stop the day I need or want to stop, its under control".
His fatal error: after a certain time he just didn't want to stop. (guess why :- ))

jacquesvol is right, weed is fine only is it used occasionally. Maybe once a week or something. Just something very casual. But if your a heavy user than it is bad. I was a once heavy user, thought i had it under control, was in denial. My grades in my first year in college were terrible. I decided to get off the stuff and my GPA skyrocketed from below a 2.0 to a consistent 3.5 or higher GPA.

Whether or not you agree with me, here's my honest opinion: It's the blatant stupidity of the action of doing the types of drugs that get you stoned to begin with. I studied psychology and cognitive neurophysiology and did research on sphingolipidoses and some mechanisms related to demyelination of neurons are almost identical to stoners and other drug users. I've seen with my own eyes what these kinds of things do to cognitive and emotional processes, resulting in negative behaviors that found the stereotypes of stoners. Although marijuana, for example, can help those with terminal illnesses, it is a specific type of cannabis and it's purely palliative.

I personally never got along with stoners as I am a tobacco pipe smoker unlike stoners we are calm collected and are put into a process of deep though and creativity plus you need to actually have a degree of skill to smoke a pipe. I don't hate stoners some of my best friends were stoners but I don't really get along with em to well.

I wouldn't be that interested in having a stoner girlfriend to be totally honest. I had some bad experiences with male roommates who were really into drugs and didn't enjoy the lifestyle they lived and wouldn't want to date a girl who was into drugs. I mean if she just wanted to occasionally use some soft drugs at a party now and then I might be cool with that but not like a regular habit she needs to do everyday

Those on coke ketamine speed crack Ecstasy and other mambo jambo are just fools! Ha but being relaxed is a day to day life style that doesn't turn out the wrong way if u can and are working to create a good life during the day and chilling at night is it really harmful?

I don't know but I find here people who start just using marijuana eventually move onto other drugs , most will head down that path after using for a while. my roommates that were on dope when I went to college were really messed up I though and didn't live very successful lives

And anon I suppose if I truelly look back I did and do take the occasional mixed substances of other uses but not those I could easy addict myself like trippy raves and stuff not to mention the wrong crowd can change your current of wave, but reevaluating my life style and leaving that wave and focusing on a correct path is a way forward right? And I can't personally and those I hang fire with too can prove not all stoners are 'lazy' and 'unmotivated' but yes it is not healthy and no not recommended but no one can look down at us working our way up?

I smoke from time to time..I don't have a problem with it. I just don't like the people that see it as their sole purpose in life. When its all they do, ever. All they talk about, life is irrelevant without it..
Its those people. It can be an addition to life, just not more important than any and everything.

Very very true those that depend on it need to step back cut down and find something to fill in there time like, hobbies, a job, the gym...etc instead of wasting away then those can look back and realise there foolish but reversed and changed they're way but also remained having the high life'

People like to look down at others, and it isn't politically correct to look down at most groups now. However it is still politically acceptable to look down at people for choices they make. So smokers of both weed, and tobacco, as well as fat people are catching a lot of crap right now. It is nothing more than snobbery at work.

Hmm, that is a stereotype I'm from a place where we are all stoners but we all are hard worker 2/10 are lazy though. Most are fishermen, mechanics and some scientific machinery people. So we are not all the same?

Mmm well during work hours brain needs to function but as u get used to the trip your brain begins to function normally and life stoned becomes easier as your basically training yourself how to handle the wave of the situation, those that sit down doing nothing fry there cells and won't be able to make a comeback that's where some of those who toke up fail...

I agree , also marijuana is wonderful because it helps people with cancer , and there is a certain strain that doesn't get you high but helps children with seizures
