what is the best way to quit smoking and not gain weight? I tried the patches and I had horrible side affects from it so won't do that again. I would like to quit, but will only quit if I don't gain weight.

1. Exercise program begins today, even if it's only running 7 miles (length of gold course) or walking same + carry golf clubs or 25# backpack. Anytime you get hungry, start walking with pint of water.
2. Buy a filtered pipe and a large pouch of cheap nasty tobacco. You must finish that pouch before you may smoke anything else. Most can't finish it.

you didn't read my profile. I teach between 7-10 fitness classes a week and right now I am training for my 8th half iron man that is in less then a month. I have 18% body fat. I don't want to buy a pipe because I won't be able to get nasty spell out of my hair. I am also a gym owner and personal trainer, but thank for the ideas.

Time is precious to all of us. One last try... find a substitute for the killer tobacco. When your fingers are searching for a cigarette, allow them to more easily find... the substitute.

I would suggest using an app to track your food...you'll find that documenting your food will greatly change your habits. I find I'm much less likely to eat junk food when I'm tracking it.

Good luck...you will never regret quitting smoking.

I have a very clean diet almost to a point of obsession. I could 100% percent of my meals. If I track my meals it could become a huge problems since I have struggled with exercise bulimia most of my life. its a good idea though. I exercise like a crazy women, but I am in the fitness business.

The least inflating and hardest method is cold turkey otherwise the medications and methods can cause weight gain. If you have willpower you could try to ween yourself off with a smokeless cigarette nicotine program.

I guess you could just gain some weight and work it off? Otherwise it's substitution and weening with e-cigs
