I recently saw a mytake on here where another GAGer posted 6 reasons why the could not get into the holiday season. I can understand some people cannot get into it. My grandma was one person who never could in her later years. I have always liked the magic of the Christmas season. I understand well it's not for everyone,But Here is a rebuttal of 6 things to like about the Holiday Season.
The Movies
The Christmas movie scene has something for everyone! For comedy lovers there is Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, and Harold and Kumar Christmas. Horror fans might like Krampus. Musical lovers can adore Holiday Inn and White Christmas. Maybe enjoy the sentimental messages of It's A Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th Street. The kids will enjoy The Grinch and A Charlie Brown Christmas. While action fans can enjoy Die Hard. There is a Christmas movie for almost every genre known to man.
The Treats
Christmas is always a wonderful time for treats. Fudge, cakes, candies, cookies, and pies galore fill up the kitchens and stores during the holidays. Children can also make gingerbread houses using cookies and candies.
The Music
Like Christmas movies there are also all kinds of Christmas Songs to enjoy for every Genre. Whether your taste is Dean Martin singing Let It Snow, Madonna singing Santa Baby, Willie Nelson singing Frosty The Snowman, Roy Orbison singing Pretty Paper, or Taylor Swift singing Last Christmas there is a song for all to enjoy, plus for the religous set there are lots of great carols for them to hear and sing like Joy To the World and Silent Night.
Light Displays/Decorations
Its just not Christmas until you see a light display. Houses, downtown squares, malls, tourist attractions, and parks all decorate for Christmas. From the smallest tree to the biggest inflatable Santa Claus you can see different kinds of lights and decrations all over. Even lights that synchronize to music which is very cool.
Family visits
Family is probably one of the most important things about Christmas. It can be a time where you see long lost family that you might not have heard from in years. It could also be the time your redneck cousin Eddie loads up his family in the RV and visits you for weeks unloading his shitter in the drain system in front of your house. Either way family is important. It is really important to get to know one another and have fun, even if its family you can barely tolerate.
The Presents
Probably one of the most trivial parts but the most fun and exciting is opening presents! Just the mystery and suspense of what could happen or appear in your stocking is enough to keep you up all night. The glistening wrapping paper is so tempting to tear into so you can see what you end up with. In the end its really th thought that counts though.
Even if you dont like Christmas or just dont really get into the hype, hopefully you can find some positives about the Holidays. They can be very stressful. They can be fun. Or they can be scary. But here is always something to appreciate at the end of the season.
The food is always the best smahala lol Music? not so much, very mediocre. I either hear a lot of Michael Buble or Mariah Carey's "Christmas mix" in the supermarket. I rather walk around with earplugs in my ears LOL I do enjoy the presents, Christmas decorations, being around family and friends :) which always outweighs the bad. Oh and the fact people go on holidays and end up being broke afterwards
I love giving gifts. It is so much fun. So much that when our artificial tree broke last year, we skipped the tree this year and bought more presents with the money instead. I like not having so many decorations up and giving more! The giving is the best.
