Why do people keep asking questions if they are too skinny?

None of us on here are medical docotors or nutritonsits so no one actually knows. If you are curious then ask your Doctor-they know a hell of a lot more than any of us!

  • All true but there is actually a healthy weight level for the human body and you shouldn't ever go below it. It can be easily found on most medical websites.

Of course you should always see a doctor first but you can let people know what the general weight they should be is.

    • You realise that the BMI is only used medically in USA of all western countries - because all other countries realise it's complete BS?

If not, now you know. BMI is a way too limited calculation. Alone the fact that musclemass and fatmass have different weight for the same capacity. Also people who are in the low "light overweight" area of the BMI tend to statistically live 4-5 years longer.

    • @FakeName123 As far as I know, BMI is generally right. However, it is indeed wrong when you have lots of musclemass like you said.
I wouldn't treat it as the end-all, be-all of weight checking, but it definitely has some merit.

    • BMI Is a useless statistic for an individual. Body fat percentage is what people should pay attention to.

  • Their doctor will tell them what is healthy, not what is attractive. They want to know wether or not they are attractive, because they probably already know wether or not they are healthy.

What people don't understand is that healthy usually EQUALS attractive.

  • It's not exactly in right now to be thin. They aren't asking for medical reasons; they're asking to see if men will still have sex with and date them because of the new trend of fit bashing.

  • Sometimes it's hard to look at yourself and be able to tell. They just want somebody to look at them and see if something negative stands out.

  • Some are fishing for compliments and want to believe they are too skinny and others are legitimately worried that they are too skinny. We aren't all doctors but some people are so obviously thin that you don't have to be a doctor to know they are too skinny.

  • Well some of them just want to brag about the fact that they're a little closer to what society views as a "nice body".

Others, just don't feel like going to the doctor ( or maybe it's expensive) and instead want other's opinion on their figure.

It's really hard to say though because it'll vary per person. I for example, am an extreme lightweight even though it's not visible, so neither a doctor nor other people's advice will really help me.
