Married with "no-benefit opposite sex" friends?

Can one be married and still maintain or start new friendships with the opposite sex? Surely to become someone's friend there must be some attraction or bond to start with. When people say they have these types of friends, are they in denial? I think males are too sexual for friendships to stay platonic, and spouses don't like it.

  • I've a lot of female friends, and we didn't meet until well after they were married. If a person can't trust their spouse to have friends of the opposite sex. Then that marriage is headed down the road to disaster.
