My boyfriend treats me like "one of the guys." Is this bad? If so, how do I change it?

Here's the situation: My boyfriend was raised by his father without any female role model. He's also never had any female friends or any girlfriends before me. Up until we started dating, the only girl he had ever known was his younger sister who is only 8 years old.

Now I love my boyfriend very much but we don't really *do* things couples do together. He just treats me like I'm one of the guys. Sure we kiss and make out and hold each other but that's really about it. We don't do anything romantic together, and we always end up going dutch on our "dates" which are nothing more than hanging out at the same places he would go to with his guy friends, such as amusement parks and concerts and sporting events. He swears like a mechanic around me. We don't hold hands in public. We don't buy each other romantic gifts or do things for anniversaries or Valentines Day.

Now admittedly I'm a little bit of a tomboy and I'm mainly into guy things so that probably doesn't help. Still, I want to be treated like a lady. Problem is I don't think he has any clue how to treat a lady or what to do with one. Now I love him and I think he's a great guy and all but I just don't feel like I should have to be the one to teach him. What should I do? What would you do in this situation?
