So my girlfriend and I have been dating for three years now, and about a year ago she allowed me to meet her daughter. The little one is amazing so full of energy, always laughing, and just the funniest little kid you'll ever meet.
So the other night was pretty much a lazy night we stayed in were in the living room. Little one and me were coloring in our coloring books munching on sliced apples and goldfish. My girlfriend was on the couch half studying half watching tv. Out of nowhere the little one goes "hey(my name) I wish you were my dad"
I didn't even need to look to know my girlfriend instantly had on her freak out face, but I moved forward with the conversation. So I said "but you already have a daddy, he's pretty good right?" and she said "yeah, but your more fun you play with me and we color all the time he doesn't want to ever" and so I was like "well your daddy works a lot he'll make time as soon as he can to play with you"
She clearly didn't like my answer which I could tell by the way she kinda shut down so I said "hey how about this since you already have a daddy how about I be your best friend?" An the little one just lit up when I said that it was so adorable, and yes she settle with me being her best friend. What I hadn't notice was my girlfriend had been getting more and more pissed off by the whole scene.
An once Itty Bitty was in bed for the night, my girlfriend damn near tore me a new one. I mean going on about I shouldn't make promises I can't keep and how I shouldn't play with her daughters head and fill it with bull****
...Even now I don't know what promises I made or anything that I said was false.
Is there anyone else on here that's been in this situation or something similar, I kinda need some help trying to fix this

Well look at it from my point two years together and the first time I meet your daughter or anyone in your family is last November? What's the deal with that of course I have thought about poppin the question but clearly there's a lot going on that she won't let me in on. Me personally, I think we should move in together first
