5 Possible Explanations for UFO Sightings

A UFO or an unidentified flying object is what is perceived to be an anomaly in the sky. 95% of UFO sightings turn out to have conventional explanations. They can be weather balloons, weather anomalies, conventional aircraft, swamp gas, etc. The 5%, however remain unexplained.

There are many theories about the origins of UFOs. In the following article we will take a look at 5 of the more well known theories. Keep in mind, these aren't in any particular order.

5 Possible Explanations for UFO Sightings

5. Extraterrestrial hypothesis (ETH)

Probably the most well known and most accepted hypothesis. This hypothesis proposes that UFOs are being piloted by extraterrestrial beings. While there is strong evidence to support this theory it's not conclusive. The major problem with this hypothesis, however is the distance between stars. Alpha Centauri is the closest star system to our sun and it is located 4 light-years away. That's 25 trillion miles! To put that into perspective it would take a NASA space shuttle 37,200 years just to travel one light year. However, surely if extraterrestrials exist and their technology is much more advanced than ours they would have figured out a way to reach us quicker.

4. Interdimensional hypothesis (IDH)

This hypothesis is the alternative to the extraterrestrial hypothesis. It proposes that UFOs come from different realities or dimensions. IDH also links UFOs to supernatural phenomena such as ghosts and demons. This hypothesis does make plenty of sense since it explains how UFOs are able to perform seemingly impossible maneuvers as well as appear and disappear at will.

3. Time travelers

It's not unreasonable to assume that technology will develop to the point where time travel will be possible. Perhaps UFOs are time travelers who are curious to see how their ancestors lived. The only real problem with this theory is that according to science traveling back in time is impossible because it would require traveling faster than light and nothing can travel faster than light.

2. Secret military projects

Perhaps UFOs have a very conventional explanation. We know that the US military is in possession of some highly advanced technology. However, that's only was has been declassified. Could those flying saucers some people allegedly see belong to the US military? It wouldn't be surprising if that was the case considering how much money the DOD spends on black projects.

1. Nazi UFO connection

This theory alleges that the Nazis were successful in developing flying saucers during World War II and that these are the UFOs we see today. While it is true that Nazi Germany was developing obscure weaponry this theory still seems unlikely for if they had such technology they surely would've used it to win the war.
