5. Electric eel

Although it's called an eel the electric eel is actually more related to carp and catfish. As their name suggests electric eels can produce an electrical charge to stun their prey and scare off predators. When threatened or attacking prey they emit a burst of at least 600 volts which is five times the power of a typical American wall socket. It's also worth noting that the shock of an electric eel can knock a horse of its feet. Human deaths from electric eels are a rare occurrence, although people have been known to drown after being shocked.
