(astrology based) How to tell if a Cancer Man likes you as a friend, or as a potential girlfriend?

All other aspects put aside, based soley on a Cancer Man's sun sign alone, how can you tell the difference between him viewing you as a FRIEND vs a potential GIRLFRIEND?

What will he do differently? Is he more physical (hugging, tickling, and just touching you in general) when he sees you as a potential girlfriend vs a friend? Is he more open when he sees you as a friend vs a potential girlfriend?

I would like to add that I am an Aquarius Woman with a close knit friendship with a Cancer Man whom I am slightly curious about.

We really love each other's company, despite that I am often moody/broody due to my own reasons. Oddly enough, he understands them and wants nothing more than to see me happy and to see me laugh off the pains of life. These things, he has told me.

He confuses me, but that's because he supposedly sees in me what I fail to personally. I tend to believe I am worth no one's time--yet he tells me that I should never feel that way. In fact, he gets worked up and irritated when I tell him about my family's views on me. He tells me that they're wrong and that I am perfect the way I am. If I say "I'm ok" he can go on in a rant about how I'm more than ok and that I need to see it.

Ever since I've gotten to know him, he's helped me not only feel my emotions, but actually experience them--if that makes much sense. I can open up fully to him, and I know he'd never turn it against me.

He is also big on physical contact. Whether it's a full-bodied hug before I leave, or me sitting in his lap watching tv or friends play video games, he likes to be close to me and likes touching me--even if it's tickling or touching my arms/legs for no apparent reason.

He definitely has a crush on you. I'm a fire sign myself (aries) and I know how much I love doing physical contact with the guy I love, touching his arm randomly, resting on his shoulder, (we poke eachother in class and stuff too)... just part of my personality and possibly to do with being a fire sign.

As soon as you told me about him about him allowing you to sit on his lap and all that touching, it is so obvious he likes you, that + how he cares about you as a person and tries to make you feel better. Them combined = at least a bit of a crush ;)

I've basically been raised by a Cancer Woman (my grandmother), but it seems to me like Cancer Men are a lot harder to understand than their female counterparts.

He's told me about how his father keeps asking "was I right?" About us dating (I've only met him as his waitress once), and his mother supposedly snickers everytime she hears my name come out of his mouth. Along with that, someone in his family has also told him "she's your next girlfriend".

Out mutual friends teased him the other night because we were outside alone, just talking about our pasts, how we felt about them, and our families for nearly two hours.

They seem like hints to me... but I guess being unable to really tell when a guy is crushing on you vs being friendly runs in the Aquarian lines.

Seriously, he likes you. Spending time talking to a girl about your pasts and how you felt about them... you wouldn't do that with a girl you didn't like (except your girl bestfriend). I think you should ask him if he likes you, but only at the end of a very good day between the two of you. I did this for my crush after a big day of flirting and he does :)

Also, by any chance (if you know or not), do Cancer Men have issues with giving mixed signals when they like someone. For example, if they say something pretty obvious like "No..." when talking about his family and friends pushing him toward someone, then saying "We're waiting longer than I did with my last girlfriend" (one right after the other), then when they realize that they've 'messed up' and try to play it off by saying something like "I worded that wrong" or something?

Sorry for all of the questions/bugging you about all of this. I'm exceedingly curious about this.

I don't think that is a trait specific star signs have, that is an individual thing giving mixed signals or not. Some people don't even know they are doing it. I know Scorpio, however, is prone to giving mixed signals, I've known a few people of this sign who were like that + I read it somewhere.

Sorry, I don't understand the "when talking about his family and friends pushing him toward someone" bit.

Alright, here's the revision:

Basically, his family and friends seem to 'know' something, because they keep pushing him toward me--including his mother.

However, during a conversation about it, he just sort of laughed it off and said "No...", which sort of hurt my feelings, but without skipping a beat, he said "we're waiting longer than I did with my ex", and that was without even looking at me. However, when he did catch me looking at him with a confused face (he had just contradicted himself), his eyes got big and he said "I worded that wrong". That confused me even more, because I didn't know which one he 'worded wrong'.

Aside from that, he knows that I liked him once before (but I thought I was over it until recently), and we seemed to get a lot closer after I told him that "I liked him at one point", but also said "whether or not I still have feelings for him, I'm not sure". I wonder if he's being cautious?

Oh, that's a really good thing if he only just said that: he waited for his previous girlfriend for a while before anything happened, and with you, it's taking even longer, meaning he does plan on going out with you, or at least want to... however he said "I worded that wrong" so possibly meaning he didn't mean to make it appear like how I just interpreted it, or maybe he interpreted what he just said in a totally different way. If you can understand that.

He's not being cautious. He is 'curious' and trying to work out if you still like him. This doesn't necessary means he likes you, some guys just like getting an ego boost in knowing a certain girl likes them.

So by this only, we haven't learned anything.

Also, about the ego thing, I've known him long enough to know that he would never use me for some boost.

I also agree about the possible misinterpretation, but that's what confused me so much.

I'm not certain how to word this, but something is telling me that he has some sort of feelings for me--feelings deeper than a typical friendship (or best friendship). It's like, when I'm on his lap, he hugs me, lays his head on my shoulder, and pays more attention to what I'm doing versus what our friends are doing.

When I leave, he walks me to my car, hugs me and tells me to be safe.

Regardless, unless I end up with him, I will never know. However, as I said before, I'll keep you updated! :)

Okay, if it isn't an ego thing, then he most likely likes you.

You are sitting on his lap, he hugs you, he lays his head on your shoulder... you don't do this to someone who is just a friend. It's pretty clear he really likes you from this. If he doesn't, then he is one, loyal, caring friend which is a keeper.

Paying more attention to you then friends, you can't tell if he likes you just from this alone. I've had a few guys who have payed heaps of attention to me and left their friends to hang with me instead and they didn't end up liking me. However, I did have a guy with the sign of Cancer who began hanging out with me more and more. Turned out he secretly liked me, which I only learned when he left my school.

I recon you should ask him if he likes you when you get the perfect opportunity, and I swear you will know when it is right. I did this with my crush :)
