My girlfriend is scared of being home alone what can I do?

We recently got a place of our own and she moved out of her apartment that she shared with roommates. I have to start working nights now because of my job and when I come home I find her locked in our room because she's frightened. I did that thing when you put a block of wood in the windows and doors so the person can't open it. But she still feels like whenever she hears a noise someones there or she's being watched by something. I'm considering buying her two dogs? Because when I was little I used to be afraid but I knew if my dog didn't bark at random objects I'd be fine haha

A dog, yeah. Or turning the TV on even if its something she's not going to watch. Its actually a common thing for people to get paranoid and hear things when the house is too quiet, the extreme version of which is the Ganzfeld Effect. Basically if you put ping pong balls over your eyes and shine a red light and listen to white noise, you start to literally hallucinate. The lack of sensory data causes your mind to "fill in the blanks" so to speak, and thus, just makes shit up. Your girlfriend probably just has an overactive mind which needs stimulation.

Yeah, buy a dog. Or buy a gun and learn her to use it, that should calm her down. (But if she's relly neurotic or something, gun might not be the best option)

I know how your girlfriend feels. I hate being left home alone at night. Yes, a dog is a good idea. do you have blinds and curtains that she can close at night (Just to put her at ease that no one is staring in the windows watching her!!!) Other than that it will get easier on her, it just takes time. Great idea to get her a dog, wish my fiancee had thought of that when we moved in together!

Actually, it sounds like she's very paranoid. She needs to see a therapist about that. It's not healthy.
