Well damn, sorry for the people here that are being rude as hell. But yeah I understand. It makes me feel like a guy truly admires me when he calls me beautiful, but when I get called sexy it makes me feel like they're just looking at my body. If I'm trying to look sexy, which I never really do, then sure the shoe fits. However if I just look nice or classy, I'd prefer beautiful. I guess it's just the connotation of the two compliments that makes women think of them differently. I don't think it's really the age group, just the type of guys they are and how they view you.
It really depends sometimes he or she is complementing you on your looks and genuinely think you are and then there are the dogs who will say anything to try to get into your panties just make sure they are saying it in a respectful yet flirty not a dogfish way

OF course it's a good thing. Well, unless you want the guy to be more romantic towards you. I tend to shy away from that word unless i'm using it in the bedroom and she likes dirtier talk. Otherwise beautiful, gorgeous, pretty ect. are my go to words for girls i like more romantically.
Tons of guys would just want to fuck you. I don't think you can really know what someone means by those words because the meaning will really vary. If I think someone is sexy to me that just means I think their body is really nice. It doesn't mean I want to do them or that I would only have sex with them.
Sexy does sound like the "I wanna fuck you" compliment, now that I think of it. But at the same time I think you're overthinking a little. Is it really a bad thing that a lot of people think you're sexy?

Yes, its a compliment. I think of it more of a personal compliment and geared towards sexual appeal. Very much about attitude and style.
