Thanks in advance! :D
Which occupation is better, Barista or Server/Waitress?
Thanks in advance! :D
I'm fairly sure that's a US thing to pay anyone who get's tips at a ridiculously low rate. here in Canada they get at least minimum wage and depending on where they work keep all their tips or share it among each other. if the kitchen staff are lucky they may get like 10% of the tips or some low number like that.
Just by going with my point of view I voted A because it's a bad move to work for less unless you'll Love your new job... if you are working a job you don't like you may as well get paid as much as you can.
Theyre so lucky! The U. S. is too greedy to give minimum wage to servers/waiters. But you made a good point so thank you c:
I'm a server in a resturant and its a fancy place but I'm a guy so I don't get great tips for decent service I need to give great service. But women can get by with decent service for the most part cause guys will tip out based on first appearance but you have to be in flirt mode which isn't hard for servers where I work.
So being in flirt mode is a must in order to get a decent pay? :( I hope not because Id feel dirty having to always resort to that tactic after a while
It helps not gonna lie like they will go up to table and if its all guys then they will and give them a brush on the shoulder and pecs just to get their attention. I'm not sating you have to but flirting can make up for bad service lol. I'm a guy so if I flirt I'm a registered sex offender but for girls its effective. The flirtiest girl their is awlays top sales so its not coincidence.
um girl Barista is a better option I understand people suck but for a waitress you would have to entertain some ridiculous customers but then again it depends what kind of restaurant is it - a fancy, where all the rich bastards come or olive garden?
Its a fancy restaurant way better than olive garden
mmh... if those rich bastards are not cheap than I say take it but it depends and I hope you are a nice person because I am saying this ok no idea where I was going with that one but do not share your tips with anybody and make sure you actually grab it and never tell anybody how much you got tipped but stay nice and suck up if you have to - I did work in such environment and these bastards were true bastards and so were the employees so do not get yourself into trouble and do not trust anybody that is if your taking this job
Very well said! I like your tips as well and have definitely been putting them into effect at my current job so they all ring true, haha. Your experience sounds like my current one in my current job. I still and reluctant to pursue the server position due to the fact that half of my income will basically depend on how well I entertain a customer, but the closer commute sounds so tempting. Sigh decisions, decisions :'c haha
well do what feels right if its closer to you thats a good thing but if you know you will have it tough then stay where you are - but then again your current job may be a disaster for you so its really up to you and sometimes we make choices in life that have a chain reaction that could be gratifying so either good or bad but this ones on you girlie
Jesus Christ, they pay you how much? That's slave labour! My god, I am disgusted that you can be paid so little...
You get the low pay because you work on tips as a waitress.

If you want to make good money you will become a waitress
Be a bartender, way better than all. I bartend, make 8.50 and hour and great tips. Pretty girls usually make tons of money in tips.
That was on my list to pursue as well, but then I realized I needed to attend class to become a bartender. So I crossed it off my list, haha.
Server /Waitress... tips will make up the difference in hourly wage.
