Why do people hate us Turks?

Question

I know we did some nasty things in the past, but c'mon, who didn't? Nobody hates Germans for what they did to Jews. The British invaded like, every single country in the world. That's why I'm writing this in English, but I don't see anyone burning an UK flag. Is it some sort of weird Stockholm Syndrome? If Ottomans forced the Balkans to become Muslim and speak Turkish, would they like us? I don't know if the Armenian genocide happened, but if it did please understand people who did that are all dead. I didn't kill an Armenian, why would I kill Armenians for God's sake? If you don't hate me, I don't hate you. My grandma once said my great-great-grandpa's pregnant first wife was killed by Greeks during the war. Do I hate the Greeks? No. I know they're not like that. I don't really understand how the Balkans can call us Middle Easterns. There are Middle Eastern parts of this contry, that's for sure, but I believe they know us, especially Greeks. They know we're not like that. It's a large country, there's a difference between a man from Hakkari and a man from Izmir. It's a little annoying that all the Balkan people stick together and hating on us. My mother's side were all Turks who lived in Greece (and Constanta, Romania) and and they came here with the population exchange, only my grandpa may not be Turkish, according to my mom and some details on their village life. I love the Balkans but it's sad to see they hate me. 

Note: I hope you're all aware that ''Turks carved pregnant women's belly'' ''Turks raped young girls'' ''Turks threw babies in air and didn't catch'' shit is not real. What do you think they're teaching us at school? Yeah, Greek men raping Black Coast and Aegean women. Nobody can prove this stuff unless we get a time machine. Why don't we leave this stuff behind and live in PEACE?

Hating towards all the individuals of a nationality does not mean anything. But disliking a nationality is a part of some nations history. And that is when that certain nationality as a whole has long negative effects on their country and what it was and has become through the history. Greeks may like you as an individual but many of them will not ever like ‘Turkey’. Why? Because asia minor was the land of a people of their, Greek descendant and conquered by turks and then their own country was conflicted and drained out of power and got persecuted by them in 1000 years. 200 years of freedom that half of it passed under a shadow will not make them love you. they will not. Balkan people are most conflicted by your actions against Europe through history. at the same time they may not ‘hate’ every individual in your country. But they may have a general dislike, and some negative thoughts that will not be easily wiped out.

Because it is not as easy as you may think. Your country is in a good economical state, and is still persecuting Kurds. While Balkans was drained out of power by you. the economical state they are now in, the debts, the situations they faced is because of you. if it wasn't for you they would be an empire now. Or at least a powerful country. You made them weak and drowned in debts now shout for peace and love.
Though it can happen through time but not in two days and with changes. Indians would not love British people if they did not give them many advantages and if their economy wasn't in a good shape now you would see Indians cursing the British. though the country of 'Greece' is not in an overall bad economical state in 21 century.

So talking about love easy. But not fairly achievable in real life. You can hope that with more understanding and changes that may happen some views change. But you cannot expect more.

Because the crime rates are the highest for Turks and people from Marocco in my country. They don't hate them, only dislike the Turks that randomly harass girls, be disrespectful, or refuse to learn our language and look weird at you when you don't wear a headscarf.

But I think most Turks are misunderstood and they are very friendly mostly. But sometimes they are misunderstood because of cultural differences and we get scared around them as they are easily offended.

But personally I look at the persons themselfves. Not at race or so.

It's not about Turk past, every country has something bad in his history but the problem is some Turkish people are so mean, rude and disrespect, that's why I dislike them not all of course but my experience with Turk people show me they can betray you anytime :/

Look a lot of Turks hates Kurds. But I love Turks even though I am an ancestrally Iranian Kurd.

Love and hate has brought mankind to where we are now. If there was no hate - Israel wouldn't have existed.

Any way I hate Israelis. Only ever met 1 in my whole life yet I hate them for something they are doing far far away in a distant land to some ppl. The nation gets tainted by the actions of a cruel few. I din't think Jews care I hate them so don't let opinions hurt you.

If you just accept that all these things occured maybe people will hate turks less. Acting oblivious about horrors is why people hate turks. The germans accept what nazi did. The British accept what the empire and east india company did. The turks don't accept what ottomans did. ( FYI: I neither hate nor love turks. Have nothing to do with turkey. Never met a turk)

I am from Romania, so still sort of Balkans... I don't hate modern day Turks at all, I kinda like Turks, sort of above neutral anyway. But if you're asking us to also like the Ottoman empire that's a big no, we hate the Ottoman empire and consider it uncivilized and backwarded and one of the reasons that made us poor (aside from the Russians). And yea, we do consider you middle easterners, but we consider almost everyone Islamic the same lol, aside from Bosniaks and Albanians.
Anyway it's kind of weird - we don't like the historical Turks at all, but we kind of like the modern Turks (aside from Islam, we don't like Islam).

I've had a bad experience with two Turkish students at my college. One tried to use me to get her homework done for her. When the other people in the group told the instructor that she was a non-contributor, she went into a rage. I also had a Turkish guy in my engineering project group and he was just a jerky person who felt like he was better than everyone else. So in my experience, Turks are their own worst enemies when it comes to public perception about them in general.

My boyfriend is Turkish lol, I think he's gorgeous, bit of a shallow thing to say but a thing none the less. I think people just generalise everything, like people say black people are thugs and drug dealers, Arabs and Pakistanis are terrorists, white people are hooligans. The media always show the bad side to most ethnicities when a lot of the time majority of them are nothing like the stereo type

Germany has admitted the crimes of her past. In Turkey if someone tries to discuss the Armenian Genocide they are risking going to jail. That of course is not an excuse to hate all Turks, but it may make a person dislike Turkey as it currently is.

The American government has done a lot more immoral crap than the Turkish Government or their people. The only issue is admitting what they did but the western world will never admit their true motivations for their actions so it doesn't matter. I have nothing against the Turks.
