Question

Where is your favoite place in the whole world and why? Is it magical, beautiful, eerie, interesting, or fun? 

Almost everyone has that one place they've been to that sends shivers down their spine, a place that they connect to and fall in love with immediately. So what's yours? 

Describe it for us and please feel free to post a picture or two! 

I'll go first. 
My favorite place in the whole world is a tiny town called Ketchum, located in Sun Valley, Idaho, USA. It's a charming town full of more culture and diversity than you'd think while driving in, and home of the most amazing sandwich joint I've been to in my life (they have giant old fashioned coke bottles and French fries to DIE for). And if you go there on a Sunday afternoon, you can hear the rumble of the sexiest Audi R8 you've ever seen. Just 45 minutes North will have you gazing at the most gorgeous mountain scenery and stunning secret camp grounds. I've got a nice spot hidden behind a half-mile hike from a county road that I'm completely in love with settling down in for the night.

The Battistero is NOT a church.
[In near old RC churches you'll often find a building serving only for baptism. They aren't churches or part of the churchWomen were 'unclean for 40 days after giving birth , forbidden to enter a church and that way they could be present when the baby was baptized. (which was done asap, because many babies died during their first week) Unbaptized babies would go to the Purgatory, a kind of less cruel Hell in RC mythology. The RC church abandoned that myth only a few years ago.]

We once had the luck to rent an apartment with a terrace overlooking the battisterio and the duomo. Only the deafeng bells of the campanile were a hindrance.
It was the last summer it was for rent: when we left the owner moved into it himself.

First I just wanted to say I loved your post. TOTALLY the kind of place I would be into. There are many places I would love to visit because of the beautiful scenery or environment of the town/city, but no place has my heart like my "Home away from home"- the Manasquan Inlet. I know, not exactly the big name spot one would expect, but I've gone to there every time in my life where I needed to get away and reflect. Every major life events I've been through up to now just about I can probably connect some way to that inlet. So I guess this place holds much more significance at a personal level but to me it's awe inspiring every time. The ocean will do that to you.

Alright, that's enough. Anyway, that's my favorite place in the whole world. I prefer night time since it's usually much more quiet and deserted.

I once took a trip to andros island, and we took a boat out on the ocean. In the distance there was a key. It started storming. When you looked up while snorkeling you could see the rain hitting the water like little pellets. Eventually we huddled in the boat. The boat was rocking and the wild waves where slapping the shore of the distant key. The sky met the horizon. The lightning cut through the sky like shards of glass, and the thunder came out with a deep hollow thud. That was one of the best moments of my life, and whenever I hear a deep voice I get reminded of that deep thunder that is forever engrained in my ears

Wen I did a road trip with a few mates of mine.. We went to Warrnambool which is 3 hours away from my home town.. Anyways we all drove there and were still driving... Some of the guys had a weak bladder so we pulled over.. I looked up in the sky and the night sky was filled with millions and millions of stars.. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.. So I sat on the boot of my car and star gazed the sky.. it looked like this pretty much

I've always loved Sun Valley. It's gorgeous. I live in southern Idaho, and my favorite place in the world is Bloomington lake, near Montpelier. It's the wildest and purest and loneliest place I've ever been. The icy turquoise water, the bugs humming, the wind rushing through the pines... I would go there to die if I could.

Stopped into Flagstaff, AZ once. I fell in love with that place. I was there for less than 24 hours and, I don't know it's hard to describe. It felt like my true home or something. Can't call it my favorite place but I'm not very good at choosing favorites. Just an awesome place that I WILL return to. I may move there when I'm older.

I'm a north Londoner and grew up close to Hampstead Heath. As a kid I spent hours there after school, hot hazy summer days climbing ancient oaks with names like "the Beanstalk" and "God's Tree". On top of these as a teenager you could get the best view over the city to share a beer and a smoke. It's always emotional to go back there, so many memories.

Koh Samet Thailand

It is a phenomenal island in the Gulf of Thailand about a 30 minute ferry (or 10 minute speed boat) ride from the mainland. it is quiet, serene, beautiful, quaint and I could go on. the water is that perfect sky blue and crystal clear. you can get amazing massages right on the beach (no funny business, as I'm sure will assume) $4 for a 1/2 massage, where else on earth can you get a massage on a beach for $4? you can rent motor bikes and ride around the entire island on the dirt paths. you can hit one of about 2 clubs/bars on the islands at night or just relax... it is perfection

My favorite place in the world doesn't exist anymore. It used to be my summerhouse when I was a kid and I have so many wonderful memories from there. It was the place where all my relatives got together during summer :) The house was demolished several years ago but at least I still have my memories. The house looked something like this:

Barcelona, without a doubt. It is big, but not too big.
Architecture, sea, beach, excellent public transport, affordable, good shopping, beautiful colours of the markets and vegetbles, excellent restaurants, cafe, sea food, Iberico hamon, nice people, young people , Sagrada Familiar, and did I mention the Spanish people, when you get to know them are a real culture of lovely people. Young city, good, almost perfect climate, entertainment everywhere. Brilliant airport, good priced taxis and buses and trains. Fast train to Paris, drive to France. Picasso Museum. There is so much to see it is wonderful.

Cumberland, Kentucky. I don't have any pictures but I have been vacationing there since I was little. My grandparents own a huge house that juts out over the edge of a cliff and looks out to an absolutely gorgeous lake. I spent my summer days as a child exploring the lake with my family. There are too many waterfalls to keep track of, and every one of them is beautiful. And then there is a place we call geode island (if you don't know what a geode is look it up) and there are just tons of massive rocks right on the waters age with geodes imbedded in them and you can walk through these rocks taller than you, and completely surrounding you, there are also a couple you can swim under, its just amazing. It is my home away from home and my favorite place in the world to vacation.

Honestly? My home. I absolutely love the land surrounding my house. It's so peaceful and beautiful. I enjoy taking walks through the woods and there's also a pond where I like to fish at. I live in a very rural area and I love it. It's just simple, tranquil, and the best place to sit outside and read a book. Haha!

this thai restaurant called 'Siam Society' at Lorong Chuan, Singapore. It's this quaint little modern thai place I used to work at and my co workers are like family:) each time I eat green curry... I feel like I'm getting comfort and hugs from the inside :)

For me, the most beautiful place where I've even been were the Fjords of Norway. Especially since it was beautiful for days non stop. Nature is nice, people are nice, villages are nice. Just a good overall experience!

Never been to magical places. I'm just gonna go with a little park in DUMBO, Brooklyn which overlooks lower Manhattan. It's nice to sit down, look at lower Manhattan, listen to the water splashing (East River). Can be kinda hard to hear the water because the Manhattan Bridge is right next and above the park. It's okay though.

Honestly 323 Grier ave. Elizabeth NJ... the house I grew up in till I was 12, it was so beautiful I loved my street the weather being able to walk everywhere & catch the bus to Manhattan everyday (I had a job passing out flyers) riding the subway& spending my days allover Manhattan/ Brooklyn/Bronx/Queens... I don't know that life & that house to come home to everyday was something I'll treasure forever.
