What's the deal with women wanting to go to fancy restaurants rather than fast food places?

Question

Short story long: I finally managed to hook up a date with a friend's friend through Facebook. We decided to go to the cinema and then have something to eat.

I paid the gasoline that got us to the cinema. I paid for the cinema tickets, and after having a good time watching "Julie & Julia" I asked her what she wanted to eat. At first she was like "maybe something Greek or Italian, I don't know. Why don't you decide."

Well, I decided, and we went to McDonald's. I could really feel how she went from interested in me, to just wanting to get the f*** away from me. She hardly ate the salad she ordered (and which I paid for). She didn't respond to my phone calls or messages later, and she deleted me from her friends list today...

What's the deal with women and only wanting to have US pay THEIR expensive dinners at hipster Italian and foreign restaurants?! What's wrong with eating at Mcdonald's?

If she was interested and really opposed she could've just said something like "Nah.. what else?" I personally wouldn't do mcdonalds either because there are others things about restaurants that fast food places don't have. Like she might have wanted to eat in an environment that was better off. At a mcdonalds it's a buncha overweight people and beeping you hear in the background. At a restaurant you can get better lighting and depending on the crowd, much better scenery. Not all restaurants are expensive either and many are offering deals for those on a budget. There's many restaurants offering "for 2" types of deals.

She could also view it as you eating unhealthy. We all know mcdonalds has that reputation.

Overall, I do think she was way too extreme in just disappearing like that, but what many girls don't realize is that if they are that quick to give up on someone, they aren't really compatible with anyone at all. Plus, she gets away with a buncha free stuff which makes her self-entitled and she'll do this again, and again, and again... not realizing she's turned herself into a gold digger without even realizing it.

Here's the difference: Fast food is just a place to eat while a nice restaurant makes an experience out of it. Kinda like the difference between watching whatever is on TV and going out to the movies. When a girl goes out with you she wants the experience, not to just get some food. She can do that on her own.

Now me personally I'm a fan of Red Lobster. It's nice enough to be considered a nice restaurant, but low key enough to wear casual dress to. Another fine choice is a little local family owned Italian place. Every neighborhood's got 'em and they usually have way better food than Olive Garden and for a much better price. If I'm picking the restaurant and we're out on a date I'd like to do one of those places. I really don't see it as being possible to go wrong.

You need to be willing to spend some money if you're taking a girl out somewhere because it needs to be a fun and enjoyable experience that she'll want to repeat. The first date isn't about YOU but rather about the experience and enterainment that you can provide for her. That is what will keep her coming back for a second date.

If a guy took me to McDonalds on our first date, or even the fifth I would start dodging his calls too and not want to talk to him.  Girls don't like cheap guys.  It's not that we want a ton of money spent on us, freakin' Chili's is fine and two people can eat there for under 30 bucks.  McDonalds is trashy though and taking her somewhere trashy showed her what the date was worth to you.  We want a man who knows how to treat their girl.  And the cheapest way possible isn't the way.  Even making her a romantic dinner at home is better than McDonalds.  McDondalds isn't a place to take a date, it's a place to go when you are in a hurry.  Dates aren't about what food you eat or what movie you see, it's about the experience and I can honestly say I have never been to McDonald's and thought, "Wow, that was FUN!  Let's do it again sometime!"

these girls are dumb girls ... stay away! you should have told her ok ill decide if you pay... haha really she should just appreciate the date ... my god I know too many girls like that ... being a girl myself I dnt dnt get it ... I thikn if you show her a nice time period its all good if that's what she's wanting ... if she just wants good dinner then I guess drop everything else and take her somewhere like that maybe asking would help... maybe call before hand and just be like yeah so I was just wondering what kinda food you like that way if she's like yeah I like eating somewhere crazy expensive you can hit up the dollar movie ... just an idea ...

She dumped you because McDonalds is a cheapo piece of sh*t restaurant with gross, unhealthy food. She clearly wanted you to take her someplace at least mildly nice, judging by her suggestions. You should not take somebody to a fastfood restaurant until you've been dating for a rather long time. It's just not good etiquette. Sit-down restaurants don't have to be expensive or hipstery. Lots of them are cheap. They're just nice on dates because you get to sit down and talk for a while before you get your food.

You should be less concerned with the money you burned on that and more concerned with the fact that by now all her female friends have received and read a huge wall of text about what a low-class bum you are. You may find that suddenly none of them want to go out with you anymore.

The reason your date went to sh*t is because you first asked her what she wanted to eat. When you ask a woman's opinion it creates in her an expectation that you'll either meet or surpass whatever she suggested. If you don't, she'll interpret it as you not valuing her opinion or respecting her or what have you. Basically the thinking is that since she's already doing you a favor by gracing you with her company, your job is to impress her or she'll take her valuable affection elsewhere.

i may be wrong here, and correct me if I am, in a nice manner

but

i think its:

-they get to dress up (most restaurants require that you look halfway decent)

-good food (healthy and tasteful)

good service (we both want that, the guy and the girl, lol)

and finally, I believe the girl feels that since she said yes to you, that she feels she should be treated better than fast food

so I know what you're gonna say..."well, its too much money" yeah, well didn't she say yes to you, lol...u need to treat her right, if she's gonna say yes. she could have said no, and just left you in the dust etc...

It doesn't have to be a fancy restaurant, but there's nothing special about McDonald's. Most people go there because they're in a rush, and it's convenient, not because they're on a date. It just doesn't make a good impression on the first date. She said Italian or Greek--you could've taken her somewhere like Olive Garden and it would've been fine. Instead, you ignored her suggestions and went for fast food.

You don't have to go to an expensive restaurant, but you don't go to fast food place. You can find tons of restaurants with cheap prices, but are still fun and interesting. Consider this date a life lesson for next time.
