What does the phrase 'have fun, but not too much fun' mean?

I'm going to a party, and i was telling the guy that gave me a lift home from college today.. I always get told this, but don't really know the exact meaning to it? Like does it mean dont go off and have sex or something

Yup, means have a great time but don't get in trouble. In a dating context it means don't screw any one else :P

have fun = dance, drink, etc

not too much fun = don't get in trouble
