GAGers, do you prefer your loved ones to say "I love you" or "I dote on you" to you? Why?

When I say loved ones, I mean great grandparents, grandparents, siblings, significant other, best friends etc. Thanks.

    • Thanks, from the Internet : )

    • The blingee that I posted in my question is most probably found in the same site : )

    • I prefer them to say "I dote on you" , maybe because I am a Chinese. When said in mandarin or Hokkien (my dialect), " I dote on you" sounds very unconditional and I feel like their pet when they said that. Haha.

"I love you" is misused a lot, I find, such as on this site : (
