Do you make your voice higher when talking to young kids?

Like if you are talking to a kid that is not yours and is 0-4 years of age. Sometimes I do but not on purpose but just to sound friendly or nicer.

  • Yes, this guy had his little baby girl in Walmart the other day
i spoke to her and talked about this little duck her daddy was
buying her and maybe my voice went little higher not nothing to
scare the little girl but she was the most pleasant little baby girl
walking around and her dad appeared to be doing some grocery
shopping but we talked about how fast some people walk when
shopping with their grocery carts and they need be careful they
don't knock down anyone especially like baby's walking and
i told him how careful i like to be cause of that reason,

What Guys Said 9

  • I don't know about higher-pitched, but I definitely try a nicer-sounding voice when I'm talking to children, and I try to speak in good grammar, not in slang.

I hadn't thought about it before, though.

  • Kinda dumb to me. So I don't. I do make funny voices to make them laugh, like I know one kid likes when I bring up the "evil scientist" voice.

  • I do that when I talk to my dog and then she smacks me in the balls with her tail.
    Thanks, dog. :(

  • I typically don't but I will mimic cartoon voices just to play with them.

  • I don't like kids, so I scare them by talking deeper.

  • No, that's condescending. Kids are smarter than you think. No justification for speaking down to them.

  • Haven't really noticed, but probably. What I definitely know is that my voice gets higher when talking with animals, can't help it.

  • My voice normally changes if I am talking to someone I don't usually talk to which is a little higher. I normally talk to my dog in a high pitched voice because he gets really happy.

    • I wish my voice was higher, lol. When I call people they refer to me as "sir" until I say my name.

    • It's not worth it trust me. When you answer the phone, you don't want the caller to say "Hey little girl, can I speak with your momma?"
      B**CH!! I'M 19!! I DON'T NEED A MOMMA!! I'M GROWN.
