My mother tongue?

I am born in Germany and I also went to school there.
My parents are both from Croatia and we speak also Croatian at home. We have both passports now.
I am confused so is German my mother tongue or Croatian?

  • I suppose that you are German but you feel Croatian. I would say that your mother tongue is the language that you learned first and you can also speak it fluently.

  • If you've been speaking German and Croatian since the day you were born, then you're bilingual, meaning both languages are first languages, or mother tongues, for you.

    • But I started to learn German at Kindergarten? Because both didn't speak German.
