The United States is suppose to be a country of tolerance, freedom and fair equality but according to this link (in terms of gender equality alone), that's a stretch.

You need to be careful listening to that kind of thing. If America ranked first then feminists would be pissed. That would be taken as the job is done and we don't need feminists anymore. So they are going to need to twist all sorts of statistics to make America rank lower.
It use to be that a woman could just lie about being beaten during a divorce and the man would be screwed so it became a common tactic in court. These numbers were then added to the abuse statistics to make it sound like women all over America was getting the shit beaten out of them, compared to other countries.
Meanwhile countries that didn't give a shit about women being beaten ranked pretty low. You see countries that care about women being beaten actually bother to record their incidents more often than countries where beating a woman is acceptable. So countries like America would always have higher numbers of abused women recorded. So without even looking at how they came to those conclusions I am certain they can't be taken seriously.0
