Most body panels are steel, but bumpers and grills are most often plastic in modern cars. A few cars, such as Saturns, used plastic body panels as well, including doors and fenders. Toyota is also using plastic for truck beds on newer Tacomas.
Older cars, such as older Corvettes, used fiber glass, because plastics of the day weren't strong enough, didn't hold up as well, and weren't as easy to deal with, but modern plastics are lighter, stronger, and cheaper, and fiberglass has fallen out of use.0
