What's the difference between northern and southern ohio accent?

I've lived in southern ohio all my life, and recently I was told by someone living in northern ohio it was "cute."

They can't be that different can they? We live in the same state.

  • Northeastern Ohio (Cleveland in particular) is consistent with New England accents, especially western New Yorker and Pennsylvanian. Central and Western Ohio (Minus the Cincinnati area) is consistent with south-Midwest accents, and Southern Ohio is consistent with Southern accents.

  • Southern Ohio sounds like Kentucky. (Cinci area). Northern Ohio has no accent.

  • I grew up in southern ohio. I've never really heard a northern ohio accent. I don't think I have an accent I just think I talk normally (there's nothing special to it like there is a sourthern or New York accent)
