Can you use chop sticks?

I can use them with both hands because I'm ambidextrous.

What Girls Said 24

  • I learned as a very young girl to use them because my very first boyfriend was Chinese! I was three and he was four. We were best friends for many years in our childhood until his family moved back home. He and his family taught me to use chopsticks since I was in their house almost every day (we were next door neighbours), and I learned some of their language and games. Ironically I disliked Chinese food, but did like some things like picking out the chicken with them. I'm proud to be able to now pick them up like nothing whenever I go for Chinese food today. :D

  • yeah, I definitely can! Started with going to sushi restaurants way too often. Then progressed into eating dinner at my boyfriend's house almost on a weekly basis, usually with chopsticks as a personal challenge. I'm now pretty skilled at even being able to eat rice with chopsticks.

Not bad for a white girl, eh? :P

    • Not bad at all! Polish girls are awesome!

  • Yep, I'm pretty good. =)
Sometimes, for fun, I'll just eat one rice grain at a time or one pea at a time. xD
    Love chopsticks!

But It's unusual in Europe - in South and Eastern Europe in general - to be good with chopsticks.
For example: In my city there is only one Chinese restaurant. And I've gone there total of 2 times.

    I just taught myself. =)

  • I once brought a black friend with to a chinese restaurant because she paid for my dinner twice and I wanted to pay for her dinner. After ordering our food, she told me she couldn't use chopsticks. She is the only friend I have ever eaten with who couldn't use chop sticks and told me about it. It was a hug bust - I'm not sure they even had forks in the restaurant.

    • Chopsticks are not useless they are more fun to use than forks and many chopsticks are made with metal or bamboo which is easy to grow.

    • It was a joke. Grow up.

  • Not really, they offer them in Japanese restaurants too but I can't use them at all

  • I need 10 seconds to get my fingers set up and acquainted, but after that I'm golden.
