Ways to deal with depression/stress besides cutting?

What can a person do instead of cutting? Like if I were depressed and/or super stressed and would normally resort to cutting but was trying to stop doing that, what are some examples of things I could do instead?

  • Exercise, smiling, sex and eating (Most effective is chocolate) releases endorphines which can substitute the endorphine rush you get from cutting. You could hold ice or snap a rubber band against your wrist when you feel like cutting since both are less damaging. Music might help also.

  • Well... When i am depressed i usually resort to running/swimming. I run so much that it hurts. Or swim for 2-3 hours until i feel sore. It's pain but pleasurable at the same time. Try it.

  • How about learning how to sing and play guitar it works wonders. I recommend learning the blues.
