Why doesn't cheese cake taste cheesy?

  • Because it's made with Mascarpone. And Mascarpone is a type of cheese that doesn't have a very cheesy smell or taste. There are others types of cheese like that. Think of Mozzarella for example (I'm not talking about these disgusting individually plastic-wrapped "mozzarella" slices made in American factories, I mean the real, freshly made Mozzarella balls). Or Halloumi also doesn't have a very typical cheesy taste/smell.

  • Because cream cheese, the main ingredient, is more cream than anything. It's a very, very mild form of cheese. Like mozzarella, it's super mild.
