Is there a difference?

When you're upset and someone asks you "what's wrong" instead of "why are you upset" what is the difference?

  • "What's wrong " -the person knows something isn't right with you but is not stating that you are down. You could be angry , sad , frustrated etc.

"Why are you down?" The person automatically knows your emotion.

Either way , the person seems concerned about you and is willing to listen.

  • Both means the same thing... not a big deal.
It's asking something like how are you? And how are you doing? Both same... :)
