If you're black, you're simply African whether or not you can trace your ancestry back to Africa. It's funny how people try to create imaginary divisions. A Japanese guy who grew up in America and has no knowledge of what Japan looks like is still called "ASIAN", an Arab guy who grew up in America and has never ever stepped foot in the middle-east is still called Arab. Why then is it different with black folks. No doubt we are Americans, but there is no race called "Black American" or "African American". We're African even though we're American by nationality."
