I'm Pacific Islander, would I be considered black?

Never really thought about this. Would anyone have the answer?

  • Not in the USA, here that term is only used to describe people of African extraction. In Europe it is commonly used to describe any dark skinned person.

Of course if someone mistook you for and African they might.

  • The common dumb ass would consider you black, but in reality you may not be. Pacific Islander is a ethnic group. Not a race.

    • Thanks for clearing that up.

    • You're welcome :)

  • It depends on your phenotype.

Being from a certain part of the world does not effect the race you are.

    • Oh I'm from New Zealand.

  • Indigenous since most scholars dont fell comfortable saying "asian".

    • Hmm, that's interesting. I've never been told I'm an Asian lol, nor would I consider myself one.

    • Thanks for the response though.
