Question about dead cell phone?

So I have this dead Samsung Galaxy SIII. It's shitty and it died on me. It doesn't turn on. It overheated from using the navigation and died. I tried using different batteries. I did the reset sequence on it by pressing 3 buttons at the same time but since it's dead I can't tell if that worked.

I want to sell it online for parts.
Since it's dead, is there any possible way someone could get my data? I know on a dead computer you can salvage the hard drive. But is that possible on a phone? is what I'm asking.

  • A phone repair shop may be able to do this. If they can go into the phone and fix USB ports, I figure it is possible to recover data from internal memory.
