Why do gardening volunteers tend to be older?

Compared to other types of volunteering?

  • Oh because it's relaxing, good for your skin via the sunlight hitting it (guessing), doesn't require a lot of energy (just time and patience) + overall older people just seem to appreciate having the ability to play in the dirt/watch life grow (plants/flowers) from nothing while reminiscence about old times. Since just like that flower in about 8 months time they're going to wither away also. But hey that's the beauty of life, right? ^_^

  • Due to experience and the relative easiness of gardening in comparison to carrying crates or what not.
