How many kids do you say they have?

My cousin and her husband had a son who lived to be 2 months old and died of medical issues.
They now have a 3 year old son and a 1 year old daughter.

Do you say they have 3 kids or 2?

  • I would say they *had* three kids, but *have* 2 kids.

  • Well that poor baby never stops being their child. I guess it would depend on them honestly and what they felt more comfortable saying. I know if it were me I'd say I currently have 2 children and had 1 other but he passed. In all I would've had 3 children total, but currently there's only two. Kind of like if a parent passes, you'll always have a mother but if she passes on the term would be had.

  • I say they technically have 2, but if you think about it the baby that died will always be considered their child.
