So my partner has been in jail for 6 months , on his court case it says "sentence imprisonment " what does it mean?

It means he went to jail. I don't think it means "prison" like we normally think of it. I think it just means incarcerated. If he's been in for six months I assume it was a felony, but he may still serve the time in a local jail instead of a prison. Local jails often have people there for things like breaking and entering, non-aggravated assault, or even car theft.0
