  • It actually very much depended on the speciffic society. It varried. But a common thing for the history of both genders would have to be the ever present unequality - either women were treatet better or they were treated worse... but never the middle ground. Well Sparta could be one exception considering that a person could get an honorable gravestone only either if a man died in battle or if a woman died in childbirth.

  • From what I've heard before agriculture human society was much more egalitarian. So overtime I suppose it'd look like a bell-curve, start off egalitarian hit agriculture women's rights suffer but then recover rapidly after the Industrial Revolution.

  • It tended to depend on how much conflict there was with neighboring people. The more conflict, the more women were devalued and males were prized.
