  • Well chips are chips so my first instinct to think of are Potato chips.

    The only way I'll think of fries when someone says that is by them saying fish and chips or if they're British.

  • As for English, I tend to speak the British variant, but realistically, although I'd use it for A, I'll expect B since it's more widespread. In Dutch it's always B because that's the only thing it means.

    • i think it's a mainly British thang for French fries (i think dis is their "legal" name... although in fact correct name's Belgian fries in my opinion...) to be called "chips"... i think in most countries they call chips "B" option...
