Why is C3PO always so stiff-jointed?
You know what I mean. He's always moved as though his knees and elbows were build with only three degrees of mobility.

    • and? they have hovercraft! they have warp drives! bacta! why can't they build a robot shaped like a human that also moves like one?

    • Because when star wars was originally filmed - in the 1970's - the idea people had of robots were jerky little machines just like that. The only original thing about c3po is his voice.

  • Because he was built by an eight year old?
    More likely explanation from the lore is that building more intricate and agile droids is more expensive.
    Real reason is to accentuate him being a robot for the story.
