Do credit card companies know if you lie about your employment history?

If you pay your bills on time and always have cash on hand - do they know how you get your money or who pays you? Can you lie to them?

  • They ping your credit... and its scary to see what they can find out. but if they see that your Current employment doesn't pay so much, they tend to just start you off at a lower limit. Which grows higher if you can pay... they don't care how you get the money to pay off, just the fact that you do.

  • They can look up all that once you give them your social and other information and you grant them permission once you sign the documents they have you sign. I wouldn't lie as they could lower or reject you from getting a card.

  • They generally have access to your info. Yes. It might also be good for you to know that practically all of these companies share info with each other. Your bank and the company providing insurance for your cellphone probably have deals going too - Which is why if you lost a bunch of cellphones you will get a considerably worse deal on your house loan.
