  • The winners always write the history books, so I am thinking most of what we call history is propaganda. There is truth in every tale, but one has to peel away the layers of the onion, so to speak, to find it.

  • Everywhere all the time. There's never been a point in history where there wasn't a leader forcing his beliefs onto people.

  • history lessons are full of it.
The good Christians against the bad Muslims, the good Christians civilizing the poor pagans all over the world.
The good immigrants civilizing America and the United States, the bad immigrants taking our jobs.
The bad commies attacking us. (while we never learn this: en.wikipedia.org/.../Allied_intervention_in_the_Russian_Civil_War )

The Japanese POW camps (while we never learn this: en.wikipedia.org/.../Internment_of_Japanese_Americans )

In Europe it's the same or worse.

  • The defining character of history is in the name, right after 'hi'.

  • Almost all the recorded historical facts are true... but some things are false as well.

The interpretation of history is mostly the problem. The WINNERS wrote the history books of WW2 and demonized Hitler, and called the opponents good. The truth is that the British Empire was FAAAAR worse than Hitler, as were Stalin and Mao. But they weren't demonized as much and holocaust denial even became a crime in western countries. THAT PART is propaganda.
