Can you use maple syrup as a substitute for vanilla extract?

i ran out of vanilla extract.

    • Thanks for the MHO! 😊. If you really wanna make your own and never run out. Buy a good brand of vidka. Smirnof is good. But vanilla steems. Open them up with the send and everything and put them in the vodka. Let it sit for 3 months I believe.

    • Did you know that plain yogurt (not vanilla, *plain* yogurt) makes a very decent substitute for sour cream?

    • A drop of brandy would be closer because vanilla extract has alcohol in it and that would be same color too but more alcohol than the extract, it would be boiled out if your cooking with it

  • yes, same measurement. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla = 1/2 teaspoon syrup
