  • you can google C tutorials. Any of them are probably fine, as they are all similar. Make sure you distinguish between C or C++, though, as there are subtle differences.

But ultimately, C is a language. If you want to learn it, you must use it. So, program anything you can think of. Program a sorting algorithm. Program something that reads in a text file and creates a new one backwards. Program something that reads in a text file and counts the number of times the letter 'b' shows up. Program something that takes an image and adds a watermark to it. Program whatever you can think of. Practice is the only way to learn. Your first few programs should be something very simple, but will probably take a while to finish - because most of your time is going to be spent looking up code. You'll find that, very quickly, you don't need to look it up anymore - you can just look at your prior code to get the syntax right. And soon after that, you won't even have to do that much because you'll just know it. Practice is the only way..

  • Definitely any tutorials you can take will help you. I'm a bit of a purest but vim and a linux based enviroment seem to be more conducive to learning coding, In my opinion an IDE like Eclipse can coddle you too much. Definitely setting a usage goal, "I want to create a crossword" will help you

  • Realize that what you WANT a computer to do and what you TELL a computer to do are entirely different. Think of a computer as a device that can only understand literal things, there's no way around it.
