Well, I guess I'm the Merrow one, because her face looks weirdly exactly like mine. (Like, when you first posted that picture -- in another one of yr "mythological creature" threads -- I had to do a double-take, to make sure it wasn't me! I think I once had a local artist draw some kind of picture of me like that, on a beach vacation somewhere. Can't remember now.)
The question is, what the hell's a Latina mermaid doing off the coast of Ireland, of all places? LOL
I don't comb my hair all that much, but, I SMELL my hair ALL THE TIME. Am I the only one who does this? Like, I try to be all slick and stealth about it -- but, let's be srs here, I am not a smooth operator. It's probably pretty obvious that... well, I'm smelling my hair every few minutes, and doing a really bad job of trying to be all sly about it. LOL And now my daughter (8 years old) is starting to do the same thing, too. Haha.
Yah, I mean her facial features, tho. That face could be straight from ol' Hibernia -- both features-wise, and with her distinct lack of melanin. (I don't remember what happens to red hair when it gets wet... lol. I'd imagine it gets at least a little darker, no?)
On the other hand, it doesn't surprise me at all to see an Aztec goddess rendered as pale white -- after all, México, like most of Latin America, is VERY stratified by skin color. (México's upper class is typified by guys like former president Vicente Fox, who's about 6'5" and looks like he could be from Iowa.)
