Is it true that millions of puppies are getting killed in shelters?

Why are shelters even allowed if that's happening?

  • because if not for the shelters, they would be dying from rabies, dog fights, starvation, cars, wild animal attacks, or people treating them as pests.

yes, it is sad so many puppies are put down. do you know where we can home millions of new puppies, every year? because I don't.

  • Well, what are they supposed to do with the puppies that no one adopts? They can't keep them in cages their whole lives and they can't afford to feed and house them all.

    • Its the ppls fault for not adopting puppies that mostly need love they rather buy new puppies from mothers. Another thing people don't realize that puppies always need their money selling them isn't any good at all.

    • I agree that people shouldn't buy dogs, but adopt instead. We should always advocate for that and confront breeders and those who are looking to buy a dog. But in the meantime, there's simply too many dogs in shelters and they can't keep all of them.

  • you mean the pound?

if no one wants to adopt the animals then they have to start getting rid of them, and there is no alternative after the pound. limited space.

  • Shelters don't have unlimited space and not enough animals are adopted from shelters.

  • its not like their gonna saw off its head governments can't afford to feed every stray animal they find so they are left with 2 choices let it go and be stray and probably end up starving to death or give it a humane death
