    • They'd be IF their use was explosion proof. The tiniest leak gives a catastrophe.

  • My 2010 Crown Victoria is E-85 compatible, but I've never used it because there is such a small price difference in the price between E-85 and E-10 right now, versus the MPG loss you get with E-85. If I had my choice and the infrastructure was in place, I would go with hydrogen fuel cell and make my own fuel at home using solar.

  • *-Diesel cars emit fine carbon particles and cause asthma and lung illnesses.
*-Natural gas cars tend to explode if something goes wrong. (A tiny leak is enough. A co worker parked his in his t driveway, slammed the door and it exploded. That's why they're only accepted in open air parking lots.)
    Same for hydrogen.
*-Electric cars, solar cars are still way too expensive. The distance you can drive on a charge in an electric car makes it only fit for city use. A 150 mile return rip is still difficult. Moreover the batteries have a limited Life span and are very expensive.
    *-Steam cars? You're joking!)
That leaves just petrol cars and hybrid cars.
The hybrids being expensive I'll keep my nearly new petrol car.
    I'll see what's changed in 2026.

    • Asker,
Vegetable oil can be used to run an engine but it takes much land to grow it. I'm not so sure it would be free from carbon emissions: wood is considered very polluting when burned.

    • Agreed, but it's much less polluting compared to petrol and diesel.

  • Petrol all the way, they sound the best. Everything else is boring, the world won't run out of oil in my lifetime so i'll enjoy it!

  • I'd love a classic Chevy Bel Air but the car I have now is a 91 Cadillac Deville. I'll be getting rid of it though for a class 1968 Plymouth Valiant Series 100.

  • I currently drive a petrol car, but would prefer a diesel automobile. Generally in the USA we don't have access to many fuel efficient diesel vehicles and the diesel vehicles we do have access to are priced higher than the fuel savings we would gain from being more efficient. Economically our decisions are forced.
