How Much Do You Pay For Your Monthly Expenses?

This question is more geared towards 18-28 year olds living on their own. I am moving out soon, I am actually 22... but I am curious to know how much you pay monthly on all your expenses. For me... I will have:
-Student loans - 100 a month
-Car insurance - 128 a month
-Rent - 600-700 a month (hopefully)
-Cell phone bill - 80 a month
-Water, electricity, heat, etc - unknown

What are your monthly expenses like?

  • Anticipate 3X your monthly rent to start but then figure rent plus $5-700/mo for basic expenses. When factoring a budget, Essentially your rent should be no more than 28% of your monthly income.

  • For me it's around 1000 AUD (around 720 USD) per month. But I live in a shared room, and am very frugal with my spending.
