  • To an extent I believe some people are overly sensitive and read too much into what you say but that has to be balanced with some common sense decency towards the world around you. Political correctness doesn't necessarily stifle free speech. Your free speech rights protect you from the government. They cannot regulate your speech or punish you for excercising speech. That doesn't mean there can't be repercussions from society. For instance, people are sometimes fired from their jobs for excercising speech their employer finds offensive or has prohibited in the workplace. Free speech is not absolute, nor was it designed to be.
