Samsung/Androids by far. I can chuck my phone across the room with 0 damage. 1 phone drop and boom screen shattered. You can do a lot more on androids anyways. Dunno why people like iphones so much.. they're kinda just a plain jane at a premium price in my opinion.4

This will obviously depend upon a few things.
I assume you are talking about current flagship models, so iPhone 6S/6S+ and Samsung Galaxy S7.
On the hardware side, the iPhone has a more powerful processor (the Apple A9 chip, vs the Snapdragon 820). On the flipside, the S7 has more RAM (4GB, vs the iPhone's 2GB). The S7 has a higher pixel count and pixel density (2560x1440 in 5.1"), but the iPhone screen is still pretty sharp (1920x1080, 5.5", 6S Plus).
Their cameras sport the same pixel count and video resolution (12MP stills and 4K video, although the iPhone's sensor supports 1080p recording at 120fps).
Their battery capacities are also similar, at 2750mAh in the 6S Plus and 3000mAh in the S7, although personally I find the 6S lasts a little longer. (More optimised OS, less pixels to power, etc).
As for the software, that will be purely objective.
I hopped off the Android train at around V4.3, and jumped on iOS at V9.2. While I can say iOS is going really well, even on my current 4S, I was having a bad experience with Android as I was on an older, budget smartphone (Huawei Y300). The OS choice will have to be up to you.
So really, they're fairly evenly matched.
