  • Both disappeared and appeared are verbs. You add the PREFIX "dis-" to appeared to make disappeared.

  • I'm going off my teacher brain, so I'm hoping this is right, but i think ur referring to prefixes here?

so i have the word 'appeared', meaning to become visible.
when i add dis- in front of the word appeared, the prefix 'dis' means 'apart' or 'away' in latin.

therefore, the word Disappeared means to be 'away' from becoming visible. .. which we also call invisible.

    • Comes from Latin emergere (e-, "from," and mergere, "to dip, plunge") and first meant "unforeseen occurrence."
