What would we do if we found proof a lost prehistoric civilization and a lone survivor from it?

First some human background. From what we can tell humans evolved 200,000 years ago in Africa. About 150,000 years ago some H. Sapiens wandered into the Levant but went no further and died. But 105,000 years ago humans wandered across the Mandeb Straight and from there spread across Asia all the way down to China and Indonesia. But 75,000 years ago lake Toba Erupted in a Super volcanic eruption which is wiped out 99% of the 1 million humans on Earth at that time leaving only 10,000 humans in Africa and virtually wiping out those in Asia. Genetic studies have shown that some of those in Asia did survive and intermixed with the indigenous negritos of SE Asia who migrated there from Africa 60,000 years ago. But what if some remote region we found a survivor from this first migration out of Africa who was the last "pure blooded one", making them a distinct subspecies of human. And what if we found that before Toba destroyed it they had a civilization say between 90,000-75,000 years ago. How do you think we would react and treat that person?

What Guys Said 14

  • as a whole i think we would find some way to make money from so there can be more expedition for less important things. and the person would be exploited beyond reason. but sepratley which is how most of the world works i would say there would be more study and research into.

and maybe with a few DNA samples and other thins they trace heritage with they would probably change something that people debate so heatedly over.

  • This scenario is implausible to the point of fantasy.

Since you asked, here is a real example of the last survivor of what was essentially an uncontacted tribe:

  • That would be very interesting, I'd like that... especially if we would eventually find proof of Atlantis, Mu, and Lemuria.

  • He should be given special treatment and fully taken care off at full government cost. Scientific research should be conducted. Samples of his blood and genetic make up should be preserved for posterity. He should be allowed to marry and have a lot of children so that his lineage can be preserved in living human beings. After his death his full body should be mummified. It will be a significant breakthrough for modern scientific thought.

  • According to the rumours surrounding the Petralona Man found in Greece, Man as a species might have existed as far back as 700,000 years ago, segregated from those evolving in Africa in Europe, no less.

So if that's true, I'd probably want to find that guy's civilisation. He'd basically blow the doors off of what we thought was human history.

  • Atlantis? Lol. Not a complete lowdown, but there are only a few areas known to have given rise to ancient civilizations (political structure, writing, etc), the northern Nile, yellow/ Yangtze, Indus/Ganges, and Mesopotamia. Any survivor, no matter how interesting, would be just a distant cousin, they couldn't claim a civilization.

No, they would have been living "in the stone age" since their civilization was destroyed.

He or she wouldn't necessarily be claiming to be thousands of years old it may be just that a handful of survivors lived in a community in a remote location for the past 75,000 years but a recent disaster a few years ago wiped out all but one.

oh, then they'd be an uncontacted tribe.
The same deal with how it goes in Brazil now,
The government comes in and says, yeah your not alone.
Uh, we kinda advanced and you can come join us or we can leave you be

  • if they had eluded us for this long they would have split into a different species or sub species I don't know depends on how much they changed but regardless id volunteer for inter-species breeding cos fucking y not

  • what if we have already discovered them and they were an advanced giant race that built the pyramids and we thought of them like GOD'S. Giants have been found in the region Goliath came from and some were found in America.

  • Well, theoretically the Aborigines in Australia were one of the first groups of humans who migrated from Africa and spread on the Australian continent about 60000 years ago and according to historians it was only one single wave of migration so their culture remained absolutely untouched/unintervened pretty much until the first Europeans "discovered" Australia plenty of millennials later.

  • There are people like that in Australia who are the oldest civilizations and are still alive. They are blond dark people. Who live in complete isolation in Australia somewhere. They have cave drawings of aliens and so many other things. You can look it up on YouTube.

Actually those people came out of Africa 60,000 years ago.

    • 2mo

Actually they are the first humans. And they were the first ones in Australia. Do research there is tons on them because they are still alive and is the oldest civilization in mankind history.

    • 2mo

They were the first in Australia and among the earliest diverging of all modern humans but they weren't the first out of Africa.
